Getting ready for your Swim Masters lessons

Pool Rules | Preparing your swimmer | Special request from Instructor

Our pool is a salt-water pool which prevents eye discomfort, skin dryness and the heavy chlorine smell present in standard pools.  Water quality is higher with a salt system which is much healthier for your child.

Pool Rules for Everyone

  • No running anywhere in pool area.

  • No pushing, splashing of others or horseplay.

  • No glass is permitted in the pool area.

  • Your child can not enter the pool until given permission by the instructor.

  • No diving is allowed unless supervised by the instructor in the appropriate area of
    the pool.

  • Please try to attend to all bathroom needs prior to lessons.

  • Goggles may be worn during class as long as they do not interfere with the lesson.

  • When using sunscreen, please apply at least 30 minutes in advance of the lesson.

Your child needs a positive introduction to swimming.

Please help us make this happen by following a few suggestions:

  • Talk positively about upcoming classes

  • If age appropriate, encourage “bath tub swimming” (opening eyes under water, blowing bubbles, pouring water over their head, etc.)

  • Discontinue any use of floaties, rings, inflatable bathsuits once class has begun. In reality, these are “babysitters” and will not promote the skill of swimming

  • Before coming to class, make sure your child is well rested, not hungry, and has gone to the bathroom.

  • Bathsuits that fit snug and do not come untied, etc., are preferred

  • REQUIREMENT!! All children should wear some sort of shoes like flip-flops. The concrete gets VERY HOT in the summer months.

Special Requests from your Swim Masters Instructor:

  • Please arrive five minutes prior to the beginning of your class. We like to start and end on time!

  • All students MUST wear flip-flops/sandals and bring a towel to dry off.

  • Parents, grandparents, etc., are welcome to stay and watch as long as your child and the class can remain focused and cooperative.

  • If the instructor feels that your child will learn better without you there, you will be asked “to drop your child off.” You are welcome to watch through the fence.

  • All young ladies are required to have their hair pulled back so that when wet, their hair is not in their eyes!  Swim caps work great! It is very hard to teach breathing techniques when the hair is a distraction.
